ArtPrize Cancelled / Skyrat Novel Finished

Sad to find out that ArtPrize has been cancelled indefinitely. It has been the world's largest art competition of its kind, and it turned Grand Rapids, MI into a living art gallery for three weeks, drawing in crowds from all over the world. My one year of participation was magical, and I have invested quite a bit of myself into this year's epic entry, a collaborative board game based on the superhero novel I’ve been working on since 2006. Life goes on, I'll find another way to get my game into the world, but it's a total bummer.

"The ArtPrize organization will pause its overall operations as a result of the 2020 cancellation and take time to evaluate the possibility of future events. Artist and venue registration fees will be refunded. Sponsors that had previously committed to participate in ArtPrize 2020 will be contacted in the coming days to arrange for the cancellation of partnership agreements."

So, that’s the bad news.

The good news is that working on the board game untangled some narrative knots for me, and I was inspired to finish the novel. The title has changed several times, but at this moment, I’m content calling it “Ship Of Theseus,” and I’ve began the process of looking for a publisher. it’s in the hands of my favorite bizarro book publisher as I write this... Exciting, huh? Fingers crossed!

Stay tuned!
